Nile Special Rugby Premier League Champions crowned

The 2023 Uganda Rugby league season came to a thrilling end on Saturday, 13th May, with the Finale match held at Legends Rugby grounds, Kampala, alongside four other fixtures in different locations. The Stanbic Black Pirates emerged champions of the Nile Special Rugby Premier League after a spectacular victory over the KOBs in the much-anticipated title decider.

The Sea Robbers put up a remarkable performance to defeat the KOBs 23-07 in the winner-takes-all game, claiming their second title in history. The Pirates dominated the game from the outset, with three first-half penalties and a pair of converted tries in the second half, securing them the well-deserved victory and ultimately, the championship title.

The game was played with intensity, and Pirates started on the front foot, taking the lead through a penalty kick from flyhalf, Ivan Magomu, who split the uprights to put his side on the scoreboard. The game was mostly played in the KOBs’ half, with the Pirates controlling possession and doing most of the attacking, leaving the home side to do most of the defending.

The day was made special with Nile Special beer, the official sponsor of the league. The fans in the regular stands and VIP section were treated to Nile Special beer throughout the game. The after-party was nothing short of amazing, with live performances by Allan Toniks, Irene Ntale, and DJ Kasbaby, while MC Evelyn kept the revellers entertained till late in the night.
