Nile Breweries - a global connection

In July 2001, Nile Breweries Ltd. was fully acquired by South African Breweries Ltd (SAB). A year later in May 2002, SAB acquired Miller Brewing Company in the United States, thus forming SABMiller plc.

In March 2006, SABMiller’s brewing figures topped the 17.6 billion litres mark. It sells over 3350 litres of beer each minute of the day, and brews and distributes over 200 beer brands and flavoured alcoholic drinks (FADs) around the globe.

SABMiller is also one of the largest bottlers of Coca Cola outside of the United States- 60% of Africa’s Coca Cola is produced at SABMiller plants.

SABMiller has brewing interests in over 60 countries spread over 5 continents
