Health:

Our health programmes have covered the sorghum communities, our employees, the community near the brewery, the beer truck drivers and retail
trade—FROM GRAIN TO GLASS.

Peer Education for Farmers
Working jointly with Health Initiatives in the Private Sector(HIPS), NBL has since 2007 trained 260 sorghum and barley farmers as peer educators for the communities.

Transport for peer educators
200 farmers trained as health peer educators for the communities have been provided with bicycles for outreach work.

Health Fairs
We hold health fairs for farmers regularly 3,845 farmers have accessed health awareness on HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria & Reproductive health and 1,349 farmers have been given HIV/AIDS VCT. NBL supports HIV/AIDS orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in the farming communities giving psychosocial support and life skills training. 150 OVC have so far been provided with bedding and scholastic materials.

Company Clinic
The Company clinic provided free HIV/AIDS treatment to the community of Njeru surrounding the brewery. The clinic provides free HIV/AIDS treatment to the community of Njeru surrounding the brewery. The company supports St. Francis Health Care Services, an NGO clinic that treats over 2,300 HIV/AIDS patients of Njeru.

Hospitality Workers & Trucker drivers
NBL provides workers in bars, lodges, restaurants & hotels across Uganda with HIV/AIDS awareness. 248 NBL third party truck drivers have also received training on HIV/AIDS. Voluntary Counselling Testing & condoms provided to both groups.

Farmer Entrepreneurship Development
Farmer uses match boxes to demonstrate concept of wealth creation. NBL has trained 233 sorghum farmers in entrepreneurship, in conjunction with Enterprise Uganda.

Environmental Protection
NBL is concerned about environmental conservation and has so far supplied 6000 tree seedlings to sorghum farmers to provide water and soil conservation on their farmers.
