What is the Eagle Project?
Officially launched in 2002, the Eagle Project involves the local cultivation and commercial
harvesting of Epuripur sorghum for the purposes of producing low cost, high
quality beer which will ensure a cycle of sustainability for all partners
involved. |

PEAP – fighting poverty
PEAP stands for Poverty Eradication Action Plan,
an initiative launched by the Government of Uganda in its fight to raise the
living standards of ordinary Ugandans. The Eagle Project is a perfect
example of how commercial endeavour can work seamlessly with socio-economic
imperatives.

- A further Ush 1.8 billion disbursed into the local economy for transport,
storage, cleaning & handling, and agent’s commissions (year ending in June
2006)
- Estimated number of direct and associated beneficiaries – 100,000
- Eagle Extra, a brand extension of the original Eagle Lager, has been
Uganda’s largest selling beer brand for the past two financial years,
driving a significant increase in national beer consumption.
- Despite a lower tax dispensation for the Eagles (local content),
government revenue increased from Ush 80 billion in fiscal 2003, to over Ush
100 billion in fiscal 2006.
